When you decide you are going to pivot your life, your social media is not for your friends (family, partner, colleagues....). It is for you, your dreams and your self-expression. It is meant to put something out in the world intentionally so that people who are looking for you and need you can find you. - Awareness is key
- Alcohol is an addictive carcinogenic poison
- The alcohol trade-off, per unit, one gets 20 minutes of rising blood alcohol level (BAC) (the fun stimuli bit) followed by 3 hours of falling BAC (the depressant bit causing stress, anxiety, moodiness)
- Marketing is powerful
- Societal norms are powerful forces too
- You can only control you - you may be able to influence others through connection
- Connection = openness + trust + respect
- Thoughts are our stories that require investigation to arrive at the truth - more on this in 'Loving what is' by Byron Katie (e.g. what is the point in arguing with reality? ah, peace and less stress
- Our dopamine center is being worn down by constant modern day artificial stimuli (alcohol, gaming, scrolling, ...)
- Importance of morning routines so that no decisions need to be made in the first 60-90 minutes of our days.
- Planning - plan your morning run the night before - the route, shoes & outfit, dog leash, headphones...
- Feelings!!! OMG I have always wanted to make the bad ones go away and guess what? That made me unable to feel the good ones too.
- Feelings come and go. So just acknowledge them, they will pass.
- Life is sweet, salty and lifey sometimes
- Happiness comes from solving problems
- Not drinking is awesome!!!
- Alcohol has been the source of my anxiety and inability to form meaningful connections
- Suffering = pain x resistance
